This aromatic garlic rice recipe is infused with golden-brown vermicelli and plenty of fragrant garlic for a flavorful and fluffy side dish. Perfect for pairing with grilled meats, stews, or enjoying on its own!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups basmati rice
  • 4 cups water
  • 1/3 cup vermicelli
  • 46 large, or 68 small cloves of garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Oil, for cooking (I used vegetable oil)
  • Parsley or cilantro, optional for serving

Instructions

  1. Wash the Rice: Rinse at least 5 times until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.
  2. Prep the Garlic: Mince the garlic cloves finely.
  3. Toast the Garlic and Vermicelli: Heat oil in a medium pot over medium heat. Add minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Add vermicelli and cook for 3-4 minutes until golden brown.
  4. Add the Rice: Stir the washed rice into the pot, followed by water and salt. Mix well.
  5. Cook the Rice: Bring the pot to high heat until the water starts bubbling. Reduce the heat to low, cover with a lid, and cook for 16-18 minutes.
  6. Fluff and Serve: Remove from heat, stir the rice gently, and serve warm. Garnish with parsley or cilantro if desired.

The nutrition information provided is just an estimate. Because let’s face it—everyone uses different ingredients, measures things differently, and, well, we’re not all using the same size spoons. So take the numbers with a grain of salt (or a dash of extra butter, depending on your tastes).
